Artificial Intelligence Laws

Till now the law governs the conduct of human or generally machine, however what if machines become like humans and perform all functions which may be performed by humans only. So, here artificial intelligence comes within the images. therefore for example example as we all know a car can be driven by any human and if there’s an accident then the liability is of the driver of the car, however what if car is auto-driven. So, the negligence involves the makers of the car and person who have more design and style the model. so to standardize the model and avoid such conflicts, governments need to interfere. As there are regulatory bodies introduced, there are legal compliance additionally.

Enlisted below laws related to Artificial Intelligence –

  • European Commission’s Ethics Guidelines for Trustworthy AI: These guidelines provide a framework for developing and deploying AI systems that are lawful, ethical, and trustworthy. They emphasize principles such as human agency and oversight, technical robustness, and respect for privacy and data protection.
  • Asimov’s Three Laws of Robotics: These laws, proposed by science fiction writer Isaac Asimov, are not legally binding but serve as a conceptual framework for ethical behavior of AI in literature. The laws state that robots should not harm humans, should obey human commands unless they conflict with the first law, and should protect their own existence unless it contradicts the first two laws.
  • United Nations Guidelines for AI: The United Nations has explored the ethical dimensions of AI and issued guidelines for its development and use. The guidelines stress the importance of transparency, accountability, and inclusion in AI systems, as well as the promotion of human rights and avoiding biases.
  • National and Regional Initiatives: Some countries and regions have taken steps to develop their own policies and regulations related to AI. For example, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in the European Union addresses data protection and privacy, which has implications for AI systems that process personal data.
